Process Description
The cracking process is an endothermic chemical reaction facilitated by electrical heat
2NH3+Electrical Heat ---Nickel Catalyst---3H2+N2
Ammonia Feeding: - Liquid anhydrous ammonia is vaporized into gas and passed through a pressure-reducing valve.
Electric Heating: The cracking retort is heated by high-grade electric resistance elements. Unlike gas-fired units, electric crackers offer superior temperature uniformity and zero local emissions.
Catalytic Dissociation: The ammonia gas flows through a Centrifugal Cast Alloy Retort filled with a specialized nickel-based catalyst, where it breaks down into its constituent elements.
Heat Recovery: The hot cracked gas passes through a heat exchanger to pre-heat the incoming ammonia, significantly reducing the electrical load.
Final Cooling: The gas is cooled to ambient temperature for use or further purification via a molecular sieve desiccant.
